National Three Peaks Challenge

Hello everyone!

The fellas thought it would be a good idea to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge, and somehow this is one of those ideas that's actually left the group chat...

In short, we’re climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours.

The Three Peaks:
  • Ben Nevis (Scotland) – 1,345m (4,413ft)
  • Scafell Pike (England) – 978m (3,209ft)
  • Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa (Wales) – 1,085m (3,560ft)

How far is it?

The total walking distance is around 23 miles (37km) with a total ascent of about 3,064m (10,052ft).

I’ve translated that to just short of a marathon, but up a couple of mountains…

Why are we doing it?

It will be the most rewarding pint ever.

But seriously, it's a brilliant way to test ourselves mentally and physically, visit beautiful parts of the UK, and, more importantly, raise some vital money for charity.

Who are we supporting?

We've decided as a group to support RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre.

My dog, Sydney - the lazy cocker spaniel in the picture above - was a huge driving force behind this trek, as we stupidly agreed to the 24 hour challenge halfway up a mountain in the Peak District with Sydney.

Having grown up without a dog in the house, I never had the chance to form a bond with a family pet, but everything changed when I moved out and 'adopted' Sydney.

He's there to pick me up when I'm sad, annoy me when I'm happy, and trigger just about every emotion as if he were actually my son.

I couldn't imagine a life without Sydney following me around the house or excitedly jumping all over me when I get home, and Radcliffe Animal Centre gives so many dogs - and other animals - the chance to live a happy, healthy life and find joy where they previously couldn't.

I'm sure the rest of the fellas feel the exact same. So, I guess that's why we're raising money for Radcliffe. To give the animals they rescue and support a chance to live a happy life.

More on Radcliffe Animal Centre

For more than 40 years Radcliffe Animal Centre has been responsible for the rescue and rehoming of thousands of abandoned and neglected dogs, cats and other animals.

Managed and financed separately to the national RSPCA, Radcliffe Animal Centre costs around £500,000 a year to run and has to raise all of its funds from local people, fundraising events, companies and other organisations.

When is it?
