Help prevent eviction for my family
Donation protected
Please consider helping my family of 3 in our struggle to prevent eviction from our apartment in White River Jct. To make a long story short, we have both been unable to work since November because of medical problems. We have a notice to quit and are facing eviction if we don't pay by the end of the month. We will both be returning to work as soon as possible, but we don't want to lose our home in the meantime.
I live with my boyfriend, Tom, and our 3-year-old son. We waited 2 years on the waiting list to get into the low-income 2 bedroom apartment we are currently living in, and we've been here nearly 3 years now. We have always both worked full-time (Tom in food service, and I was in a public school working as a behavioral paraeducator), but both of our health took a turn for the worse this past November. Tom left his job because of back pain and was looking for work with computers. Unfortunately, his back pain continued to get worse, and he was diagnosed with Degenerative Joint Disease, with at least 3 vertebrae involved. Tom is still going through tests (currently waiting on MRI results) to determine if surgery is necessary. Shortly after Tom left his job, I had to take medical leave for my second surgery in a 10-month period, and the school district let me go because of excessive absences (despite the doctor's notes stating the surgeries were medically necessary). After having a large cyst removed from my ovary earlier in the year, the second surgery diagnosed me with endometriosis. I have yet to be cleared for work, but have been told I should be able to look for a full-time job within a month.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and doing what you can to help. It took me a lot of swallowing my shame to publicly ask for help like this, so I would appreciate if you would share positive thoughts only, please =)
