Hi friends, family, colleagues, clients, & beyond.

My name is Kayla & I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Eyra & Tom's family.

(I have known both of them since the early days when they had just met)

On Sunday September 10 2023, Eyra/Tom/Luca/Noah took the day to explore & enjoy the beauty of Squamish before the season's change.

As they were returning home from their day out, a freak accident occurred & their vehicle rolled over.

It landed on its passenger side which is where Eyra was buckled in.

Luca (6) & Noah (2) were unharmed in the event but definitely shook up.

Tom needed multiple stitches to his head.

Unfortunately, Eyra suffered the most significant injuries.

When the vehicle rolled, it landed on, crushed & trapped her right hand.

After she was extracted from the vehicle, she was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital for serious & critical injuries.

Initially, the doctors were not certain that they could even save her hand (amputation) but they managed to salvage what they could.

Multiple surgeries later, Eyra is able to keep her hand.

Thank-you to Dr. Erin Brown of UBC for your expertise in reconstructive microsurgery.

That being said, Eyra's life will be forever changed.

She has a very long road ahead of her to heal, undergo additional surgeries, recover & rehabilitate to some sense of normal.

As a loving mother of 2 boys (both under the age of 10), an incredible wife to Tom Bennett & a successful business owner of https://justplants.ca/ , she will need a lot of help as she redefines her role in all aspects.
