My name is Lucas "Luke". I am an emergency department registered nurse. I recently received ecstatic news that I was chosen to partake in a medical mission. It is hard for me to say this but, I need your help. This is an individually sponsored trip and collectively as a team if the goal is not met than the trip does not happen.
On May 14, 2016 I will join a team of selfless individuals for two weeks that will set out on a journey deep in the jungles of Bolivia. Our objective is to provide education, medical aid, and supplies to villages who are without.
This trip is coordinated by a magnificent not-for-profit organization called Project Helping Hands (PHH). I recently attended a seminar put on by PHH and found myself amongst truly genuine people. The extraordinary stories that were told of villagers traveling by foot for days sometimes weeks through rigorous terrain in order to be fitted for glasses that would allow them to see for the first time really opened heart.
Those of you that know me, know that this is why I sought out nursing . Providing aid to people who need it the most brings me a joy beyond anything. I would describe myself as someone who embodies PHH's motto "Adventure with Heart". I feel that I could really help out on this quest of graciousness.
