Medical Expenses

Hi friends. It really took a lot of courage and the setting aside of my pride to create this. I don’t find it easy to ask for financial help.

The situation at hand is very personal, intimate, and kind of embarrassing- as well as extremely uncomfortable. It has been going on for a few months now, going from doctor to doctor (I think I’ve seen 10 specialists at this point) and I finally have some answers. Not all, but enough.

Unfortunately they’re not great answers with guaranteed solutions.

I was recently diagnosed with hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction. Most people have never heard of that, I know I never had- or they think of pelvic floor rehabilitation and therapy is specifically for strengthening postpartum mothers after a trauma like child birth.

Everyone has a pelvic floor, and this can happen to anyone.

Hypertonic is a fancy way of saying overactive. The muscles in my pelvic floor are so tight that they are preventing normal and essential bodily functions from occurring…

Specifically going to the bathroom.

There is no permanent cure for pelvic floor dysfunction. It is exacerbated by stress, so it can be incredibly cyclical and challenging to navigate.

Truthfully, this has been an incredibly painful, stressful, and downright humbling experience that has greatly been affecting the quality of my life. Mentally and physically.

A special kind of physical therapy called biofeedback (which is partly covered by insurance) takes months- even years to yield results. I have been having a lot of trouble getting scheduled through insurance, so in order to begin treatment now, I have to pay out of pocket. The goal is to retrain your muscles to work together properly again. It is often combined with Botox injections (yup, in your butt) that are not covered by insurance. I am desperately hoping that they will help me begin to heal from this.

I am looking for help to cover some extra physical therapy, as well as a series of medical botox injections and anesthesia that could greatly improve the quality of my life again.
