After starting to see floaters, I got checked out by a retina specialist and found out I was bleeding inside my eye. I went for emergency surgery to inject medication and use laser to stop the bleeding. Less than three weeks later, I had a massive hemorrhage in my eye and it is now filled with blood, rendering me completely blind in my left eye. I need a vitrectomy - a surgical procedure that removes the blood and gel-like substance inside the eye, repairs/cauterizes the broken blood vessels, and replaces the vitreous gel with saline. This procedure is scheduled for May 18th. I am currently blind in one eye, which causes depth perception problems, issues with nausea and dizziness due to the inability to focus with both eyes, and massive headaches due to strain on my remaining functional eye. I am disabled and out of work until I recover from this surgery. I'm asking for help because while I am able to claim FMLA for partial coverage, the money lost being out of work and the amount of money that I am expected to pay for this "elective" surgery is extremely frightening. I need help. Any amount would be appreciated and go toward covering the costs of regaining my vision. Please help if you can and spread the word. I would be forever grateful.
