Hello, My name is Lyne and I am the wife of professional creative photographer Steve Willis. My husband is a hard working, creative photographer who makes his living with the use of his eyes and his eyes need help. He needs surgery. When we were newly married about 15 years ago Steve was diagnosed with detached retinas in both eyes and was in great danger of losing his eye sight entirely if not corrected with surgery. At the time he was working at Guitar Center and had health insurance. The retinas in both eyes were reattached with lasers but the left eye was more severe than the other and required a procedure done called a Scleral Buckle. As years have passed and as a result of that procedure, Steve has developed a severe cataract on the left eye. He’s now completely right eye dominant and his vision has changed in the right eye as well. He has to completely rely on auto focus during shoots and even has a hard time looking at the monitor on the back of his camera. Doing post production on the photos for his clients has become a real challenge. He’s to the point now where in order to see the sharpness of the images he has to sit with his face 8 inches from the screen. This is now causing trauma in his neck and back and making his work flow much slower and difficult. The good news is that this is all correctable. On his left eye he needs a Refractive Lens Exchange. This removes the cataract and replace the lens in his eye with an artificial one. This will give give him 20/20 vision in this eye. The right needs an SBK procedure and will provide this eye with 20/20 vision as well. Steve has been a full-time photographer for 10 years but has never had health insurance. The cost for this procedure is $6400. The funds raised will be used for the surgery and post operation follow up visits that we are hoping to do towards the end of January in Ottawa, Canada. The proceedure in the US was close $10,000. 

We have included some samples of his work so you can see just how talented Steve is. He can’t imagine doing another job as he believes that this is what he is meant to do.
