Hi, my name is Cynthia Grant. My father Jonathan Grant was enlisted in the marines and he was assigned to the Marines Forces Reserve's 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marines Division, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In 2005 my father was killed in Iraq when an explosive device detonated near a vehicle he was riding in. My father was the 10th New Mexican service member to be killed in Iraq. Although he is missed he continues to travel around the United States in The Eyes of Freedom Memorial where an illustration of him is displayed.
The Eyes of Freedom Memorial is eight large paintings presenting life- size portraits of Ohio- based Lima Company's 23 fallen Marines. Twenty two marines and one Navy Corpsman were killed in action between May and August of that year.
Because my father was born and raised in Pojoaque, New Mexico I am seeking donations to cover all expenses to bring the memorial to his home town from Ohio for the community/ school districts to experience.
The memorial will be presented at the Pojoaque Valley High School Ben Lujan Gym and the Northern New Mexico College in April of 2024.
All proceeds will go to the Memorial.
Thank you for your generosity.
