Hey! Back in 2021, after a domestic dispute and having my head banged into a kitchen floor, I went to the emergency room over a concussion. They did a CT and found an 8 mm mass lesion on my brain, a colloid cyst, which is a benign, non-cancerous tumor. I was supposed to be on wait and watch over the last 4 years to keep an eye on it from making strange behavior and causing me issues. But over the last 4 years, I've dealt with a lot as far as drinking, depression, and misery. Back in '23, I ended up losing the job that I had, which sent me into another spiral episode. Since then, over the last 2 years, I have noticed a lot of change in my personality and memory. I also had issues with balance, headaches, random bouts of being dizzy, and overall just haven't felt right.
Back in August, I was telling Larry about how I think it's the tumor on my brain causing these issues and making me feel so awful. So this last March, I ended up going to my doctor for my yearly check-up, and I asked him to put me in an MRI order to get my lesion checked out. Come to find out, it has grown 5 mm in the last 4 years, which explains a lot of my symptoms and changes over the last 2 years. All of these being symptoms of tumor growth and having hydrocephalus, which is the enlargement of the ventricles in your brain and fluid on the brain.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, I was on my third day of feeling TERRIBLE! So I took my butt to the emergency room and come to find out the hydro on my brain was bad enough to the point I got sent to Neuroscience ICU down at Good Sam. I had a repeat MRI to test how bad the fluid and ventricles have gotten. I finally got to meet my surgeon; we originally had a meeting to meet on the 9th, which was 5 days after my 36th birthday. He decided that it was important and serious enough to do the surgery to remove the tumor on Thursday, April 24th. Which is what I had done. I was really hoping that I could have pushed this out 6 months to a year before getting the surgery. I wanted to wait until next summer so I had time to save up some money and that way my son would have been on summer break and he could have been home the first two weeks to help me out and look after me. With such a short notice, I wasn't able to do so.
I had done the math for my portion of the bills since Larry has recently moved in and we split everything. My bills total would come out to $5,000. That's rent, car, and car insurance for those 3 months (12 weeks), which, off of reading other people's stories, recovery is 8 to 12 weeks depending on the person. I won't receive driving privileges until 4 to 6 weeks. My plan and goal is as soon as I get cleared to go on walks, I plan on walking my ass everywhere and rehabbing the hell out of myself to get back into work.
Was wondering if I could receive some help with upcoming expenses as far as bills. My main concern is my car note, which is $500 a month, and my car insurance being $160. The last thing I need is to lose my car because once I get better, I will need to get my kid to school/summer camp and to work to dig myself out of another hole. I can only imagine what my medical bills are going to be. Any and everything would be appreciated! Thank you for your love and support.
