Eye surgery to repair macular tear
Donation protected
My name is Kimberly. I’m a visual artist living in NE Florida. I work from home as a social media manager for various web sites, and as a graphic designer and artist.
Around April of 2023 I noticed my eyesight was increasingly sensitive to light and my vision was blurry. I started having ocular migraines and thought it was “too much screen time.” By July, a dark spot appeared in my central vision.
I went to get my vision checked and was told I have a macular tear in my left eye. Also that I’m developing a macular hole in my right eye.
Basically I’m losing my eyesight. Certain procedures are available to help correct or slow down the progression of issue.
I talked with my doctors and scheduled surgery for Monday, August 14th. I was assured my insurance would cover the cost, numerous times.
This meant I could rely on my savings while I recovered from surgery, to pay for the basics, because I can’t work while my eye heals.
This morning, August 11th, I was informed I have an additional copay of over $1500.
I could put off the surgery until I have the funds, which may result in greater damage/a larger tear in my left eye, and more expensive surgery.
I’m asking for any help, even to the halfway mark, to get this surgery taken care of.
Funds from this campaign go directly to the copay for my surgery, utilities, and living expenses.
I appreciate all of you for your help.
