I am creating this GoFundMe page for our baby girl, Maya Grace, who on day 3 of life was diagnosed with a very rare congenital eye condition. She is unable to open her left eye unless triggered by certain muscles in her jaw (with jaw movement, sucking etc). 

Maya needs surgery to correct the nerve misconnections and muscles around her eye to ensure her ocular and visual development isn't impacted. Due to the rarity of this condition, we are unable to have this surgery in Australia. We need to travel to Malaga, Spain, to see a Paediatric Ophthalmologist/Ocular Plastic Surgeon who has invented and mastered a specialised surgical technique to correct this extremely rare condition. Without this corrective surgery, Maya will need to live with limited vision in her left eye, long term developmental issues, not to mention, significant psychosocial implications. We want to give our daughter Maya every chance to live her best life. Undergoing this surgery will provide her with this chance.

The surgery alone will cost us $20,000 AUD.
