Save Princent’s Eyes! Urgent Rescue Kitty Fund

Donation protected

Princent Vice is a rescued 2-year-old Himalayan Persian from Egypt. He is an absolute cuddle bug with the sweetest nature & a campfire crackling purr. He is a healthy boy but for bilateral herpesvirus of the eyes.

Prince has received treatment & medications for his condition since day 1 of his rescue.
Despite a strict regimen & precise health care plan, Prince now requires Keratectomy & Conjunctival Graft surgeries to save his sight & avoid Enucleation (surgical eye removal). His surgery is scheduled for July 26th & is considered urgent.

Prince’s family is devoted to his care & rehabilitation. His guardians, Siân & Dee,
will stop at nothing to ensure he receives the best care possible. Unfortunately, times have grown tight covering veterinary & medication bills ranging from $500 to $900 per month since November, mainly via credit.

Dee underwent surgery for a broken broke clavicle on July 18th.They will be unable to work & without sick pay for 6 weeks. Medical EI does not arrive for at least 1 month, thus compounding financial concerns. Siân is also due for massive surgery in the coming months.

This campaign aims to raise crucial funds for Prince’s surgery & associated 24/7 supervision & aftercare. Prince's surgical estimate ranges between $3989.43 to $5669.64.
Transportation & medications are not included in this figure.

We are trying to raise $2500 to help Prince access his surgery.

Please only give if you are genuinely in a position to do so! Prince & family do not wish to create strain on their friends & community members.
With that said, if you are an animal lover with a big heart & a few dollars to spare, please contribute as you wish & certainly do share this campaign!

Let’s help Prince through this stressful & painful period to one of health & happy play with his adoring sisters,
Lucretia & Ligeia!

May your furry familiars fair well & live happy & long lives.

Much Warmth & Respect,
Princent Vice & Pals

Keratectomy & Conjunctival Graft Surgeries
Keratectomy is the excision of corneal tissue, including epithelium and variable amounts of the stroma. The aim is to excise the sequestrum, if possible, completely. The abnormal cornea is then excised using a corneal dissection blade or scalpel blade. If more than 50 percent of the corneal thickness remains, it is not essential to place a graft. A soft, colourless bandage contact lens facilitates healing and improves comfort. Stromal thickness may not return to normal, but corneal scarring is usually mild. If more than 50 percent of the corneal stroma has been removed, a graft is often performed to provide tectonic support. For sequestra, the placement of a graft may reduce the risk of recurrence, so some surgeons place a graft following more superficial excisions. The majority of keratectomy sites heal within 10 to 14 days.
