The plight of the Rohingya is now well known; they were forcibly expelled from their homes in Myanmar, with the UN describing the situation as the "world's fastest growing refugee crisis".
Approximately 600,000 refugees are currently stranded on the border of Bangladesh and Myanmar. They are living in make-shift shelters without many of the basic provisions that we are able to take for granted living here in the UK. For many, this includes spectacles, without which can mean struggling with even the most basic of tasks.
Your kind donations will be used to contribute to the purchase of brand new spectacles to be dispensed to the Rohingya and also where possible, to cover the cost of any medical eye treatments needed.
Any additional funds will be spent on other necessities on the ground there. These include funding secure housing, food aid, relief items and other local ongoing projects.
All donations will be spent entirely in aiding the Rohingya; the team will personally cover all of our own expenses on the trip.
Having provided free Eye Care to the people of the Gambia in 2016, we are determined to continue to put our skills and experience to good use and provide further free Eye Care to those in need.
Here’s a link to a trailer of a documentary that was filmed whilst we did our last Eye Care charity trip in The Gambia just over a year ago.
We ask that you donate generously in the hope that we can ease some of the suffering of this already persecuted community.
