Green Roof Diversity Research Trip

Who we are:
We are undergraduate students in the biology department at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU). The four of us are conducting an independent research project under the advisement of some of the professors at MSU. We are researching insect, spider and other arthropod biodiversity atop a green roof on Auraria Higher Education Campus in downtown Denver. The research we are doing will help us and the scientific community better understand the impact of these roofs as green spaces contributing to the conservation of beneficial insects in cities.

What we are trying to do:
We want to share and promote our research with the scientific community by attending the Entomological Society of America (ESA) 2014 Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon this coming November. Besides promoting our research, presenting at this conference will help us network with graduate programs, learn about related and complimentary research, and help us find career opportunities in a field we are passionate about. As an added bonus, entered the competition for the President’s award in the poster presentation category!

Why we need YOUR help:
Our school provided us with a portion of our funding needs, but we are still short. As students, our financial resources are extremely limited and we need your help to pay for this amazing opportunity. If you could help us reach our fundraising goal of $1,520 it would mean the world to us and be helping scientific research in the area of Entomology.
