I have been given the honor of being selected to assist top chefs at a prestigious culinary event in New York City. TuttoToscana is hosted by the James Beard Foundation, “America’s most renowned reference in the world of gastronomy and the professional restaurant industry”. The foundation celebrates and supports the culinary arts through its educational efforts and programs which host some of the most talented

chefs and industry experts from around the world. For TuttoToscana, only the most respected executive chefs are invited. Those executive chefs select a few aspiring chefs to accompany them to showcase the culinary traditions of their particular country. This year, I was chosen as the only culinary student from Italy!

I am so grateful and humbled to have been selected for this once in a lifetime opportunity. The event will provide a unique platform for me to showcase my talent as a chef, network with other professionals in the industry, and gain knowledge of other cuisines, techniques and flavors.

As you may know, this sort of event can be quite expensive. I am immeasurably thankful that my parents have been able to pay for my tuition in culinary school and part of my daily expenses, but this additional cost of TuttoToscana is burdensome for them—and being a cash-strapped student, I am not in a position to cover the cost. It is not easy for me to ask, but I am reaching out for help.

The cost for me to participate in this event (five days) will be no less than $2,775: university credits $1,260, flight $600, accommodation $600 and a few university administrative costs totalling $315. I will be able to cover my food, local transport and incidentals.
