"Extrano" Student Short Film
Donation protected
Introduction
Hi, my name is Austin Tong and I am the producer for the short film titled Extrano directed by Danny Lencioni. We are current DePaul University film production students. Donations to this project will support Chicago actors and film crew members, fund COVID-19 safety procedures, pay for equipment rental costs, and more.
Logline
When Alfred, an immigrant factory worker, begins to struggle with homesickness, a new experimental drug could be the cure, but its side effects could be worse than the illness. A drug that allows him to remember his past, won’t let him forget about his demons.
The Film
Extraño is a film about the psychological struggles of migrants. This film takes the approach of the psychological horror genre to confront some of the issues of homesickness, the fear of forgetting and accepting a new home. Extraño defines the word for the verb to miss someone or something but it also means strange. Our target audience is older, looking to engage with fans of the horror genre, and looking to have Hispanic visibility in the horror genre. Themes: Nostalgia, Homesickness, Immigration.
How your money will help production
Your donation will support young diverse creatives and their voices in media. From a production standpoint, your funds will go towards transportation costs, food for cast and crew, art and production design, location costs, gear rentals, and safety supplies on set.
