Final Push to Minnesota

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and neighbors,

I'm sure you all remember my friend Laura and her son, (my Godson) Hamsa. Laura is currently medically stable enough to tie things up in Atlanta and move to Rochester MN to be treated at the Mayo Clinic . They plan to be leaving Georgia within the next 7 weeks.

It has been a long journey to get here, to be sure. They both had unexpected challenges (related to their Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome ) in the last few years, and Laura has been operating at low capacity since she had a stroke.

Another stay in the hospital (That's Laura's sleep-deprived mom in the background)

Subsequent seizures caused neurological damage that left Laura in diminished cognitive capacity, and the damage also caused diplopia (double vision) and blurry vision, which may be permanent. After she's healed up from her upcoming neck surgery, Laura will need at least one surgery to repair her pelvic organ prolapse - her muscles are good, but because of her EDS, the connective tissues holding everything in place are shredded! She needs a hysterectomy and surgery to repair her cystocele and rectocele.

Hamsa is in poor condition, and he's mostly bedridden - he can stand up for only a couple of minutes before his lower legs and feet turn purple and he passes out! (His heart is too small) Thankfully, new medications are helping better manage his pain and frequent seizures.  And up in Minnesota, he'll receive home health care.  (So will Laura)

Hamsa is mostly bedridden these days. Cats keep him company :)

And now, I ask you all to please pitch in to help Laura and Hamsa - they are so close to finally making it up to the Mayo Clinic! They desperately need help to pay for final household expenses, moving expenses, and making payments toward their enormous medical bills. The amount I put for the goal is around the minimum amount they need.

Please help me get these two on the road! Laura has two major surgeries awaiting her, and time is precious! We've got to get them up there before the next health crisis!  Please chip in whatever you can.  You may not realize this, but your support helps them more than just financially - knowing that people care strengthens them and gives them hope. And hope is everything.

Thank you, dear ones.

Please share freely. And remember - no donation is too small

(Laura says thank you from her heart!)
