Community for Public Schools is a grass-roots group of parents, teachers, and other community members advocating for students, educators, and families in Forsyth County. In 2023, we partnered with WS/FCS to identify schools that could use some extra love for their teachers and staff. We started with three schools in 2023/24: Carter High School, Konnoak Middle School, and Easton Elementary School.
These schools either have a small PTA or no PTA at all–so we've met with each of them to identify their specific needs. Since our launch, we’re proud to have raised over $30,000 in monetary and in-kind donations.
Here’s a list of what we’ve provided so far:
Teachers’ lounge make-overs at two schools: Carter High School (Fall 2023) and Easton Elementary (Fall 2024). Thanks to designers Jourdan Fairchild and Kristin Koeblitz !
We're now partnering with the Interior Design department at Forsyth Tech, whose students are working on three different teachers’ lounges at Parkland High School, to be completed by this summer.
Regular deliveries of snacks and coffee to all five schools. (Thanks to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for consistently supplying snacks for Easton.)
Food donations from local restaurants, businesses, and churches: Bobby Boy, Jimmy John’s, Biscuitville, Camino Bakery, Burke Street Pizza, XCaret, La Carreta, Brothers Pizza, The Porch, Mellow Mushroom, Domino’s Pizza, Dewey's Bakery, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Fader Real Estate, Drs. Leal, Spangler, & Johnson.
Sock donations from Renfro Brands for Konnoak students.
Gift cards to teachers.
Chair massages with therapist Mark Sears.
Ukuleles for Easton Elementary.
We hope you can help us continue to support the teachers and staff at these five amazing schools!
With gratitude,
