Extend Sadie's Life: Support Her Treatment
Donation protected
On February 7th, I took our sweet Anatolian Shepherd, Sadie, to the emergency and specialty vet due to bleeding from her left nostril. Her CT showed a very large mass from just behind her canine that extends into her skull. The report states it is most likely nasal carcinoma, which is aggressive and destructive. She will only live a few months without treatment. We will have more definitive results on what type of tumor when her biopsy report comes back in 1-2 weeks. She is being referred to Upstate Vet Emergency and Specialty Care for palliative radiation. With radiation, the vet is hopeful they could extend her life by 1-3 years since she is otherwise healthy and not showing signs of discomfort or decline. She has been seen by her primary vet three times since August for reverse sneezing but because the tumor was not causing deformities in her face, it remained concealed within the deeper part of her snout. Her bloodwork has always been perfect, she has not had any behavioral changes, the vet said if it was not for the bleeding that they would never think that something could be wrong. I know that her care though this journey is going to be expensive, but I do not know how to euthanize a dog that is still her silly happy self. She is only 6 years old; she is supposed to have many years left with us. I will do anything to extend her life while she is happy. She is my soul dog, our fierce protector, our gentle giant, our kid's best friend, our rescue dog who chose us.
