Meet Remy! He loves head rubs, a quality can of wet food, & that red dot he chases so well. He holds a huge part in our hearts & is the very very BESTEST BOY! MY SOUL CAT!  I’m creating this because Remy needed a pretty big operation. Here is some insight on his condition/prognosis & why we need your help.
He previously had it in his tail and immediately amputated (2022). We thought it was gone, but another developed so fast that x-rays didn’t catch it a year ago (yeah, I asked 3 months ago, but was told not to worry about it because he didn’t show symptoms, even when we planned to do every 3 months). After noticing a limp, I felt a lump on his right knee & immediately scheduled an appointment with our vet. A day later we had to return. Within hours we were scheduled for X-rays, which ultimately presented a ‘grave concern’ with our doctor. The growth had caused the deterioration of both the femur & tibia. She referred us to an orthopedic specialist (South Paws). Our consultation determined that it was a osteosarcoma (a very aggressive bone cancer). Life expectancy without treatment would be approximately 6 months. We were advised that the most proactive & practical option would be to schedule an immediate amputation of the entire limb. This on average can add up to 2-5 years to his life. This procedure consists of surgery, anesthesia, continuous medical monitoring, overnight hospitalization, medications, & a two-week check-up.  Even a dollar helps! Remy’s surgery went perfectly. No complications. We are now a week into his recovery. We just finished up his Gabapentin, thank goodness. He is almost back to his old self. He is now making biscuits again, using the cat scratcher (always his favorite), & following me everywhere I go again He is still a bit unsteady, but improving every day! Our 2 week check up is the 25th. We will keep you posted with any news we get!
