On October 30th, 2025, my mom, Patti, was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer that had spread to her liver and lungs. At the time of her diagnosis, Patti’s housing was not suitable for healing and she was unable to access the care she needed. As a result my fiancé and I moved her from East Texas to Dallas to receive care on November 15th, 2025. On November 16th 2025, just one day after moving her to Dallas, Patti started experiencing shortness of breath. We made the decision to go the emergency room at Baylor. Since being admitted, we have discovered the cancer has also spread into lymph nodes and spine. The cancer in her spine has caused a compression fracture in two vertebrae, adding to an already painful diagnosis.
While this cancer is not curable, it is Patti’s wish to live as long as she can, despite this disease. In order to see her wishes through, she is requiring immediate medical intervention in order to prolong her life, safe/clean housing and a few fun experiences along the way.
Currently, Patti is hospitalized at the Baylor’s T. Boone Pickens cancer hospital. She has received blood and iron transfusions, is scheduled for port placement, and will imminently begin chemotherapy.
If you know Patti, you know laughter, fun and kindness. Affectionately known as Bad Pad, Pmomma, Pattigram, little mom, Patti makes an impact on everyone she meets. Even at the hospital, faced with unimaginable news, she is making the nurses and doctors laugh. My little mom, who loves music, dancing, clowns, the Peanuts, gnomes and so much more, deserves to experience her favorites things in life, just a little longer.
We are asking for support extending Patti’s life and setting up her in housing that supports this new set of circumstances. As is the case with many people, Patti is on fixed income, creating barriers to the type of housing she can access. Help us keep our mom laughing and spreading joy with dignity.
