Extend My Art Residency at The Hive

Donation protected
Hello again, patrons of the arts. I cannot believe my residency at The Hive is coming to a close.

The last 6 months have flown by and I am so grateful for the people I have met at each art show, and those that have purchased my art this year. But most of all I am grateful to you all, for making all of this possible by supporting this residency.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have my art literally come out of the closet and into the world, and be seen by people from all over and all walks of life in it’s home at the Hive in Downtown LA this year.

I lovingly call it “my wall” and it has moved once and been painted two different colors (see picture gallery) to suit the themed collections I put together, but it gives me an incomprehensibly amount of joy to call it mine.

As this year comes to a close and I am reflecting on my mission to “come out as an artist,” I have realized, I am not done.

I would love to extend my residency another 6 months. I have so many plans for future shows and collections, and I am not ready to leave the amazing art community at the Hive.

Some things I want to do with my wall in 2026:
  • display my collections of self portraits from the past 13 years
  • add shelves to display and sell prints, stickers and original water colors
  • display my collections of portraits of my favorite characters from books and movies
  • display my Fantastic Mr Fox painting and sculpture collection
  • display my new and ongoing Inner Children (one is currently on the easel now)
  • and so much more…

Having this residency has given me such confidence and unstoppable inspiration.

  • I have, and will continue, to submit to other art shows I never would have been brave enough to submit to before.
  • I have introduced myself as “an artist” for the first time in my life, without insecurity or imposter syndrome.
  • I have created 20 paintings this year!!!
  • I completed several paintings in one sitting, something I never would have thought I would have been capable of, and honestly wasn’t, due to the lack of confidence that often made me doubt, step away, and put down my brushes until I was brave enough to return
  • Knowing my paintings have the opportunity to leave my easel and be witnessed in the world has given me the permission to keep painting, instead of fearing not having enough space for them and putting a cap on my inspiration.
  • I have dipped my toe in other mediums, trying paper clay, and have been getting back into water colors and just plain old sketching.
  • I have done more than I ever knew was achievable, and I know now there is no limit to what I can do, except those I put on myself.

Thank you all, for making this possible.

Your support has freed that little girl who always knew she was an artist, and had been banging at the walls, trying to get my attention all these years. I speak for her and myself when I say, thank you, thank you.
