I am reaching out to ask for help for my mother, Cathy Saneda. In September, she had two minor strokes, which she recovered from well. She was in the hospital/rehab for about 2 and 1/2 months. She came home the day after Thanksgiving, and it was wonderful to have her here. Unfortunately, a week later, she lost all strength in her legs. We then found out she had spinal stenosis. The doctors recommended a minimum of 6 weeks of inpatient rehab along with pain medication to help get her back and walking again. Things have been slow moving because she lost a lot of strength. She's definitely making some progress. We have not gotten to the point of being able to stand on our own yet but are getting there! Unfortunately, Medicaid and insurance are ending her stay soon. I am looking for support in order to be able to pay out of pocket for her to stay 20 more days at rehab. Each day is about $450. Her physical therapists, occupational therapists, and I have faith that that amount of time will get her to a good spot for her to come home. She will still require a lot of help when she gets home, but this will help tremendously. As many of you know, we also have a 7-month-old son, and my partner, Stephen, and I both work, so someone staying at home with her 24/7 is not a possibility. If you are able to help at all, we really appreciate it. As much therapy as she can get would be ideal. She desperately wants to be home to watch her only grandson learn and grow.
