Extend Anne's Life: Fight GPA Vasculitis Together
Donation protected
10 Hello, my name is Carole Touchinski. I have a dear friend that I have worked in the human services field with for over 10 years. She is such a kind soul. She has given much to the community and some of our most at risk kids. If we could band together and help her I will be forever grateful. You see, Anne has come down with a very rare disease. This disease is called GPA Vascalitis. This is an extremely rare autoimmune disease. It attacks the blood vessels in her body. The vessels her disease tends to attack are her eyes, nose, throat, sinuses, skin, muscles and connective tissues. IF that isn't enough, it is also attacking her organs such as stomach, lungs, and kidneys. This is an extremely life-threatening disease. It requires the immune system to be shut down and compromised to control organ damage. Cancer drugs and prednisone are used to stall the disease progression to some extent. It takes many infusions, and hospital stays to slow the disease down. Most unfortunately this particular disease is NOT curable. The hope is to manage the progress and damage to extend her life. This has been a very painful experience for Anne; both physically and psychology. The prognosis is 5 to 7 years for her to live her best life. Of course, she cannot work as she cannot get a virus since the virus will start this cycle all over again. She used resources from her job, insurance, and short-term disability were offered. However, her work has made the decision to fill her position with someone else and was regretful to let her go. We are looking to raise funds for her to get her through the application process for disability which can take quite a bit of time. We are also working with her on other supports so that she can continue to live independently.
