Honoring Andie Young: A Community Offering for Kristen & Kairos

My name is Eric, and like so many in this community, my life was deeply shaped by Andie Young. Andie was a visionary—deeply committed to food sovereignty, mental health, and the radical act of caring for one another. They gave so much to the people around them, always finding ways to nurture, uplift, and dream of a better way forward.

But beyond their role as a steward of land, animals, and people, Andie was also a craftsman. They approached every aspect of farming, living, and care with an eye for artistry, beauty, and detail. Whether sharpening knives on a wet stone, honoring the aesthetics of butchery, hand-spinning wool, or designing systems with precision and thoughtfulness, Andie understood that good, real things take time. They were incredibly skilled—at carpentry, woodwork, system design, and even quiet, intuitive veterinary interventions. Andie longed for a world where people could gather around a table, take their time, and make something good together. In so many ways, they themselves felt like someone from another time—a person who moved through the world with patience, devotion, and deep reverence for the work of living well.

Now, in the wake of Andie’s death, we have the opportunity to extend that same care to the people Andie loved most—Kristen and Kairos. This is not about charity or pity. This is about honoring the immense love Andie poured into the world by ensuring their family feels that love reflected back. It’s about standing together in gratitude, reciprocity, and solidarity.
