Garry Trent is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.
For many years, the trauma he endured caused him to abuse drugs and alcohol, which led to homelessness on Skid Row in Los Angeles. Having begun his sober journey in 2001, Garry has become an inspiration and confidant to others in recovery by sharing his story.
He has not only turned his life around but is dedicated to helping others recover from trauma and substance abuse.
But now Garry needs your help.
At 71, Garry is fighting cancer. Diagnosed in early September, Garry attempted to make arrangements with PTO at his work (a hospital of all places) for his surgery in November when, without any prior disciplinary actions on his record, they fired him. His unemployment benefits are up in the air as he is still fighting to receive them. In the meantime, Garry has rent and bills to pay. And of course, his ride-or-die fur kid, a 14 y/o Chihuahua, Boobie, to support.
Garry is not one to ask for help. He usually goes it alone, which is why I'm asking for help on his behalf.
For a man who has gone through so much in his life, and fought so hard to find peace, unemployment and eviction can't be the end of his story.
Anything helps. Please.
