Expert Medical Opinions For Vietnam Veteran

Hello, my name is Carolyn Wilkins. Recently, in a letter dated April 7, 2022, from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), I learned my husband Joseph had never been appropriately diagnosed with Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonism. Joseph spent almost three years in a VA medical facility. During those three years, he was treated with antipsychotic drugs with box warnings from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stating Do Not Give To Elderly patients with Dementia. Unfortunately, Joseph was repeatedly given those drugs as a treatment for symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and different forms of Parkinsonism. Even in the medical records, it states, "wife does not want her husband on these drugs because of the FDA warnings." The medical records also show that when given the drugs, he would have adverse reactions to the drugs, the doses were increased, and he was given several of the same class of drugs simultaneously.

 

Since receiving the letter dated April 7, 2022, I began to seek expert medical opinions first to determine what Joseph's medical issues were; Parkinson's Disease and or Parkinsonism.  Looking at the medical records closer, I found so many diagnoses related to Parkinson's plus, Parkinsonism,  Parkinsonian, Parkinson's idiopathic versus drug-induced Parkinson's, to name a few. Therefore, I am seeking medical experts who can provide the expert medical opinions to review Joseph's medical records and provide what the DVA could not, a confirmed diagnosis.

 

The expert medical opinions will not just help with Joseph's claims but with other veterans as well, especially

Vietnam Veterans. My mission in life is to assist other veterans with funding for expert medical opinions to

allow all veterans to receive the benefits, claims assistance, and proper adjudication of their claims.

Joseph passed away in 2108 and just learning how he was missed diagnosed is very painful.
