1 lb 1 oz and already full of feisty spirit

Our sweet boy was born at 27 weeks due to a diagnosis of preeclampsia with severe risk factors last Monday. It’s been a scary week for all of us, and though no one ever wants to deliver this early in pregnancy, our team of doctors at Duke University Hospital decided it was in the best interest of both of our health to go ahead and deliver via C-section. Everything went great in the OR, and Silas even gave us a little cry once he was delivered, which was very reassuring for everyone! Baby boy is currently in the NICU here at Duke with an amazing team watching over him. It’s been a long week for us already, and the NICU stay will be even longer, but I have faith that God is going to pull us all through so we can reunite our family again!✝️

As for my health, things have been looking very good and, as long as no complications arise, I should be discharged by Wednesday evening.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has been praying for our little family. Without your love and prayers, there’s no telling what kind of state I would be in right now. I feel hopeful and know that God has our backs during this difficult time. I also would like to ask for y’all to continue to pray for our lil man and that he grows strong and healthy so he can meet his big sister as soon as he possibly can.
