Expenses to assist Matt Lindsay's recovery

If you know my parents, you know that they are not the ones to ask for help. But the family needs a little help right now!

My brother, Matt Lindsay, was taken to the ER on Thursday, July 7th. He had swollen legs that he could hardly stand on and was light headed and couldn’t sit up. He was taken into emergency surgery that night after they found out he had a severe infection in his legs which was shutting down his kidneys and his blood pressure was at dangerously low levels. The first surgery was to see what they could do to stop the infection. It was chipping away at his right leg bone and too severe. It was decided the next day that they needed to amputate his right leg (basically to get the infection under control and save his life.). That surgery was the first step. He underwent another surgery today to amputate more. His kidneys have improved and are back to functioning, however he is still in the ICU.

We are thankful he is alive. But we know there is a long road ahead. Although his brother & sisters will be helping as much as we can, a lot of his care will fall on the shoulders of my parents since he is living with them. They will need a wheelchair ramp, they will need to re-do their bathroom to accommodate/handicap accessible. Not to mention the fact that Matt has very basic health insurance (Health Insurance Marketplace) and a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. Matt has worked at Carleton Glenn Golf Coarse for several years and hopes to return, but he will obviously not be returning this year so he will also be without pay.

We (immediate family) will be contributing as much as we can to assist but any additional contributions would be greatly appreciated by the family. It will all go to help my parents renovate the house to accommodate Matt and a wheelchair, etc. The remaining will go towards hospital bills or other expenses related to this tragic incident.

It's not sure yet, if he will be going to physical therapy facility while he heals. They expect at least 10-12 weeks before he can try prosthetics.
Matt is only 41 years old, he has a 13-year-old son and many challenges ahead of him. My dad is retired, and as you all know my 71-year-old mom still waitresses at Farmers Cafe, but they still feel that they need to take care of their son alone. This has them worried sick – how can they do it? What if he falls? Etc. which is not good for their health either. And I think they need to put aside their pride and ask for help when needed.
