expenses related to a soul gone to soon

My name is Jessica, and this is one of the most challenging things I've had to write.

My dear friend and neighbor, Lori Herzog, lost her amazing son Brendon yesterday, 3/19/2022. I will get into specifics on how he passed later in this post. Let me tell you about the amazing man and son Brendon was.

Brendon was born on October 26, 1990. I didn't get the pleasure of meeting Brendon until they bought the townhouse next to mine in 2013. Lori and I quickly became great friends and I instantly had a connection with Brendon. He was an old soul, nature lover, extremely creative, with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for music. He was a shining light with a bright future. He made me think outside the box on why and how things happen in life and I admired his passion. Brendon had overcome so many obstacles in his short life, including addiction. He was chemical free for years and able to move from Minnesota to Colorado which had been a dream of his. In Colorado, he met his soul mate, Carly. They together, with their dog, shared a love of music, nature, and built a beautiful life.

Brendon was blessed to have a mother (Lori), sister(Hailey), and brother (Kyle) who loved him unconditionally here in Minnesota. When he met Carly, he gained another family that cherished him as much as we all did. Thank you Carly, Amy & Joe (mom & step-dad) Kyle (Carly's brother) for loving Brendon and raising such an amazing woman. I know that Lori cannot express how grateful she is for you all.

Now to the unthinkable:
Brendon was found unresponsive on Monday March 14, 2022 by Carly. She called 911 and began CPR. By the time the paramedics arrived and revived Brendon, he had been without oxygen to his brain for approximately 30 minutes. At the hospital it was determined that Brendon had aspirated his own vomit and had pneumonia. He essentially had no brain activity due to the length of time without oxygen but a strong heart (which we who loved him already knew). While hospitalized he had a heart attack and passed shortly after.

Nobody should have to bury their child. The loss of Brendon has hit myself, family, and community more than I can express. Therefore, I'm pleading with all of my friends and family to contribute what you can. Lori and her children have had to travel to Colorado and now must endure the expenses of losing a cherished loved one. I made a promise to Lori to try to ease her pain in any possible way and this is the start of keeping my promise.

Please donate what you are able, no amount is too little. Thank you all for reading, sending prayers and donating.

Love,
Jessica
