On February 6, 2020 our son Logan Michael Storms (27) suffered a tramatic brain injury. He was found unconscious at 12:35 pm by his grandmother who dialed 911 immediately. Bedford Police arrived on scene within minutes. After several attempts to get a response without luck, Logan officers decided to load him into a squad car and take him to the emergency room. At IU Health Logan was admitted in critical condition. His blood pressure was 277 over 210 and unconscious. The nurses and doctors at IU Health worked on Logan for about an hour and during this time decided to transfer him to The University Of Louisville where he was admitted in critical condition. Logan was examined by several neurologists and due to the intense pressure from the brain aneurysm Logan was taken into surgery. In the OR a group of Neurologists removed a section of skull to help relieve the pressure. Logan suffered a massive brain burst. During surgery Logan lost 6 liters of blood, suffered a stroke, and the use of a main blood vessel which supplied blood to the right side of his brain. Logan survived an 8-1/2 hr surgery after being unconscious for 5-1/2 hrs which included a 1-1/2 hr ambulance commute to UofL. At this point the doctors couldnt believe Logan was still alive. Logan continues to amaze these doctors but the road ahead is still under construction and unknown. The Neurologists main focus moving forward is to reduce Logan's brain swelling, keep him from having any additional strokes, and to provide him with the best care they can so Logan can return to a normal life. #stormstrong
