Expenses for the Colpetzer Family

*I spoke with Mrs. Gail (Bethany's mom) about getting this set up with her permission in order to help take some of the burden off of Blake and Bethany.

This GoFundMe is to raise money for Blake and Bethany to help offset travel expenses, costs of treatments/hospital stays, and any loss of income during this time.

Bethany is pregnant with their second child and has recently been diagnosed with Primary mediastinal large b-cell lymphoma and is currently at MUSC. They have decided that they need to start chemo immediately and she will most likely have the baby 3-4 weeks early. The baby is very small and in the 2nd percentile for size but otherwise appears to be healthy.

From Bethany's Facebook Page (12/30/20):
"I went to my Maternal Fetal Medicine appt yesterday and the Doctor said I was not getting enough oxygen for me and baby, and they couldn’t figure out why the pneumonia hadn’t gotten better. I was still coughing really bad, and I had gotten where the only way I could breathe was to sit straight up in a chair, and even then I was struggling. So sleeping was almost impossible.
They also had run a NIPT genetic test on baby girl to see if there were abnormalities in her DNA causing her growth restriction, and her results came back perfect showing no abnormalities in her DNA, BUT these tests also show the mother’s DNA and it showed abnormalities in mine. With that being said, my MFM Doctor sent me straight to the ER and wanted me to have scans done of my chest and organs to see what could be going on.
They tested me there for COVID and the flu and both came back negative, and they did a ton of bloodwork which all came back clear to their surprise. Then they did an ultrasound of my heart, liver, pancreas, kidneys, and spleen to see if there were any abnormalities there, and afterwards did a CT scan of my chest with contrast to see if the pneumonia had worsened and why I was still having trouble breathing.
The CT scan showed a 14 cm mass in my chest pushing on my heart, lungs, superior vena cava, and one of my bronchi. So, that was what was causing the symptoms I had. My MFM Doctor and my regular OBGYN spoke and called Charleston and they decided it was best for me to come to MUSC to find out more and get a game plan together on how to deal with the mass.
The team of oncologists, pulmonologists, and Maternal Fetal Medicine Doctors have come together and decided that the mass needed to be biopsied to tell what it is and whether or not it could be lymphoma. They’re hoping to do the biopsy tomorrow so we can get the ball rolling on getting baby girl here if need be if I have to start some kind of treatment.
This has all been crazy and just a complete whirlwind of chaos and emotion and information...I’m absolutely scared to death, but trusting the Lord and His plan, whether I understand it or not. Please keep the prayers coming, they are appreciated more than you know! Pray for my family, and that they will have peace. Pray for my husband that God will supply all of the comfort and strength that He can. Just pray. That’s all I can ask for."
