I am setting up this page in honor of Mike Mantle. The Mantle and Meade family are a big part of a lot of peoples lives. They are all amazing people. A little background information, for those who don’t know me, I am Chelsea Richmond, my sister is Whitney and my brother in law in Jason Meade. Mike Mantle was one heck of a guy. If you knew him, there was no doubt you liked him. He didn’t know a stranger and could make anyone laugh as soon as he walked into the room. He always I mean always had some sly remark to make. Mike married Diann and took in her kids, Jamie and Jason like they were his own. You would have never known that those kids weren’t his, or the grandkids weren’t blood. He was the true definition that blood does not make you family. He didn’t only touch their lives though, he and Jason coached numerous baseball teams and the impact he left on all those kids is amazing. You can see all the tributes and all the lives he touched from the memories people are posting on Facebook.
I think we can all agree that the year 2020 was been no short of a disaster. Mike went in for surgery to replace his knee on 9/16/2020 and everything went fine. After he got home, he was to start outpatient therapy. He ended up coming down with a blood clot in his lung and COVID. He wasn’t breathing the best, so they decided the hospital was the best place for him. Also, Diann had come down with COVID as well, so not only was her husband in the hospital, she had to be away from all of her other family alone at home. Mike was in the hospital from 9/29/2020 until the day he passed which was 10/21/2020 and he was on the ventilator from 10/3/2020 until he passed as well. Mike was a heck of a fighter, he gave it all he had, but unfortunately, he could not get over COVID. Thankfully, the hospital allowed Jason and Diann to put all the COVID protection on yesterday and go up and say goodbye to Mike. I don’t think the hospital realizes how thankful they are for that, to go almost 3 weeks without saying anything or seeing your husband/father, but then to have that joy of saying goodbye. There will be a lot of medical bills to figure out and then the funeral and all the other expenses. I just wanted to set this up just to show their family how much he truly meant to people. I know right now, times are tough, and things are uncertain, please do not feel obligated to contribute, but if you can that would be amazing. If you want to leave a comment on how he touched your life, those memories will last a lifetime. It just shows please don't take life for granted and love your loved ones hard and pray please just pray !!!
Thank you
