On 6 November 2016, Peach County, Georgia Sheriff Deputy Daryl Smallwood and Deputy Patrick Sondron responded to a dispute between neighbors. A gunbattle ensued, leaving Sondron dead at the scene and Smallwood on life support.
Daryl lost his fight 8 November 2016.
Daryl was a believer in Jesus Christ. His faith was something never doubted. He was an avid motorcyclist and friend, pillar and sense of strength to his family and friends.
Daryl served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman, he served the Peach County Sheriff Department for one year. He had previously served at the Dooly County Sheriff for eight years and the Crisp County Sheriff Department for five years.
He is survived by his girlfriend and children, mother, father and sister, and a large blood and blue family.
The fund is being created because many of Daryls friends can't make the trip to pay respects but want to donate. All funds donated will go to the family to use as they please or as the need arises - food, bills, living expenses, education, clothing, vacation, etc.
My name is Rebecca Brown. I knew Daryl before and served with him in the Corps; he is my friend. I will not receive any of the funds; I am simply creating the fund to assist in any way possible. Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
RIP Brother.
