Thank you for stopping by our fundraiser! I’m Sariyah, also known as Sariy-ink, an artist and the founder of Ready Or Not Ink in Tacoma, WA. I am seeking help to support the growth and expansion of my tattoo business. Over the past decade, as the owner and one of the artists, I’ve dedicated myself to building a thriving business that not only delivers exceptional tattoo services but also fosters creativity and empowerment within our community.

My journey as a tattoo artist began at the age of 17, fueled by my passion for art, which has been with me since childhood. With the generous support of my parents, who gifted me my first tattoo kit, I embarked on this artistic path. At the age of 22, I took a leap of faith leveraging both my personal savings and the support of my parents to establish Sariy-Ink. the first 2 years of being at that location by myself, I recognized the potential to foster employment and opportunities for aspiring artist. Ready Or Not Ink emerged as a testament to this vision. The name "Ready Or Not" reflects the constant reminder to be prepared for what life brings and to embrace honesty and self-reflection.

Ready Or Not Ink has been serving our community for seven years, and I have had the privilege of tattooing for 13 years. Alongside me, I have three talented and creative tattoo artists, as well as 2 apprentice who are learning the craft under my guidance. As one of the first women of color to open a tattoo shop in Washington State, I am proud to contribute to the diversification of the industry and create opportunities for underrepresented artists.

While running my shop, I realized the importance of expanding my knowledge beyond tattooing. My mission became to differentiate myself from other tattooists and gain confidence in working with the skin. This led me to pursue basic esthetician training and further my education by obtaining a master esthetician's license at the Washington State Laser Institute in December 2019. Through this journey, I not only gained valuable expertise in tattoo removal but also built my confidence as an artist and business owner.

Becoming a mother to my son Ahmad, born on October 4th, 2021, has opened my eyes to new opportunities within my shop. I am passionate about providing art classes and events for children, creating a space where young minds can freely express themselves and explore the joy of creativity.

My daily motivation stems from witnessing the progress and fulfillment of those around me, and seeing the joy on my clients' faces after our session. Empowering artists to thrive in their craft and establishing a secure, supportive environment for clients resonates deeply with me, creating a sense of fulfillment and joy in my heart.

Tattooing has not only changed my life but has also become my vehicle to help others learn, live, and thrive. My ultimate goal is to open a larger space to accommodate emerging artists and provide them with the necessary resources to succeed. However, I have faced challenges in realizing this vision, primarily due to the need for more funding to build the shop of my dreams. Furthermore, the absence of financial assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, as funds were depleted when applying for a PPP loan, has presented notable challenges.

Receiving financial support would be an incredible opportunity for Ready Or Not Ink and its continued growth.
