You can make a difference in programs for high school students by donating today! Monumental Impact, the 501c3 business organization of D38's Bearbotics, needs your help to expand our capabilities in the East Rooms of Grace Best.
The East Rooms are used by Lewis Palmer School District 38's Bearbotics' FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 4068 and Bearbotics' three FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Teams (19541, 19970 & 20771).
We have a need to expand the capabilities in our space identified below:
- Removal of the Risers: Our Community Room and its adjoining rooms have four levels of floor space. We would like to remove the three raised levels and make the adjoining six rooms into two rooms. All rooms would be at ground level. This will allow us to leverage the space more effectively and make all areas accessible to all team members. These risers have limited how we get all team members together in the Community Room and whether they are able to work together on activities.
- Expand Electrical Capacity: The space was not originally intended for high tech and equipment heavy participants with a large demand for power. We need to expand the power capacity to enable CNC and other equipment that team members need to design and fabricate parts.
- Fabrication In-House: In previous years the fabrication of the parts for the robotics teams has been done in a Coach's or Mentor's home workshop where students are not able to benefit in learning the fabrication process. We intend to purchase a CNC machine that will enable students to learn high-value skills for college engineering programs and the local job market, while they fabricate parts for projects.
- Ventilation / Circulation: The East Rooms do have heat, but we may not have appropriate ventilation, especially as we add equipment to the space. We will be assessing ventilation and circulation as improvements to the space are completed and the equipment is in-place.
We are working with D38 to see what they are able to fund, but we LOVE our educators and would rather D38 focus on funding our teachers!
If you are a business that would like sponsor us on these capabilities, please reach out to us.
We appreciate your support as we strive to enable and support local students in technology, engineering and entrepreneurship with experiences and community.
