Heaven Waves International School (HEWIS), Ghana

On May 17, 2021, in a small room inside an uncompleted residential building in Ghana, a dream was born.

Heaven Waves International School (HEWIS) opened its doors to just five preschool children. There was no office. No proper classrooms. The dining hall doubled as a learning space. The building was shared with residents. But there was something stronger than the limitations around us—faith, resilience, and an unshakable belief that children in rural Ghana deserve access to quality, Christ-centered education.

Today, that single-room beginning has grown into a thriving educational community of 219 students from Preschool to Grade 9, supported by a dedicated team of passionate teachers. We have celebrated three graduating batches and now operate from a 15-unit classroom block built to provide a more conducive learning environment.

Yet our journey is far from complete.

Why HEWIS Exists

In many deprived rural communities in Ghana, children face barriers that limit their educational and leadership potential—overcrowded classrooms, lack of learning resources, limited access to technology, and minimal exposure to global academic standards.

HEWIS was established to change that story.

Our vision is to provide children with the highest standards of education while instilling strong Christian moral values and nurturing their creative and leadership potential. We are raising a generation that can compete confidently on the global stage while remaining grounded in integrity, faith, and service.

Our hybrid Christ-centered curriculum aligns with the Ghana Education Service framework while preparing for future adoption of the Cambridge Curriculum. This approach ensures our students are equipped academically, morally, and globally.

We are not simply educating children.

The Urgent Need

As our enrollment continues to grow, so does the demand for improved facilities and learning resources. To sustain and elevate the quality of education we provide, we urgently need support to expand and complete key infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure Expansion

• Construction and equipping of a Science Laboratory

• Establishment of a fully functional ICT Laboratory

• Completion of the Administration Block

• Additional classroom furniture

Educational Resources

• Updated textbooks and library materials

• Digital learning tools and computers

• A school bus to support transportation for students from surrounding communities

These are not luxuries.

They are essential tools for delivering quality education in today’s world.

Without a science lab, practical learning remains theoretical.

Without an ICT lab, digital literacy becomes a disadvantage.

Without adequate furniture and resources, learning becomes uncomfortable and limited.
