Exodus: Fleeing Fascism

As most of you know, things are getting unsafe for a lot of people in our country, and I am one of them.

I am leaving my home state to get to one where I have better legal and physical protections. The fewer folx that know my new location, the better - if someone puts pressure on you to reveal my whereabouts, you can say with perfect honesty that you don't know.

I don't know when, or if, I can come back home to where my friends and family still live. This is the most difficult, gut-wrenching move I've ever made - and it-s the 25th time I've had to move somewhere new. But the first time I've had to move to flee fascism.

I have looked into 3 different forms of assistance for this move, and I unfortunately do not qualify for them (story of my life). I'm once again asking my friends, and their friends, for help.

I saw this coming, but dismissed my gut feeling. And now I'm scrambling to leave before the van, squad car, or boxcar arrives for me.

Please help me escape before I no longer have the freedom to leave.

I have the following cost estimates:

$1,780 to rent a 15' U-Haul and car dolly

$400 for gas for the truck

$133 for 1 night of pet-friendly lodging (includes pet fee)

$142 for a vet visit, vaccinations, and anxiolytic/ sedative medication for my kitty (arranging a payment plan for this)

$350 to get my car to pass inspection & be registered

$250 for 90 days of medication

$850 for first month of shared housing costs
