Dear friends and colleagues, I'm launching a brief crowdfunding call to support a journalist / human rights defender colleague who is currently in the EU on a limited protective residency.

Forced into exile after being kidnapped, tortured and jailed for work in protecting women and marginalised members of the community, this person was also subsequently jailed and beaten during an initial exile in a neighbouring country. As a result of the torture, beatings and extra-judicial detention, this person lost a number of teeth, others were broken and further damage was caused by acid being poured into the mouth. This now requires urgent medical attention and treatment.

The basic stabilising dental work has been estimated at approximately 5000,-- EUR of which up to 3000,-- EUR is being covered by a direct funding support and some insurance coverage, so we are trying to help by raising the missing approx. 2000,-- EUR.

Due to personal security reasons I am not able to release the person's name and identity online, but am available via DM if you need or want to know more about this person's journey.

Our organisation, r0g_agency for open culture and critical transformation based in both Berlin, Germany and Ottawa, Canada is a non-profit organisation working to support community leaders, civil society activists, journalists and youth innovators affected by conflict.

We frequently host human rights defenders from such regions.

It would be great to get this relatively small amount together which i'm collecting on the behalf of the HRD, and which will be used exclusively to cover the billing deficit of this essential dental work.
