SUPPORT CINEMA AND THE ARTISTS WHO MAKE IT
Team Exile is committed to raising a part of our production and post-production budget through crowdfunding support from our donors—individuals who are inspired to invest in art and artists. After a devastating 1.5 years of involuntary suspension across the film industry, EXILE has proudly welcomed a stellar cast of actors and film production professionals back to the work they love.
THE FILM AND THE FILM STORY
EXILE follows two eventful weeks in the life of a fictional character, Krzysztof (Kris) Rzeczycki, an undocumented Polish immigrant living in Chicago, as he faces life-altering choices. EXILE is the second feature-length film by Chicago-based writer/director Martina Reese. With a cast of twenty, eight locations, and dialogue in three languages (English, Polish, Spanish), EXILE's 14-day production period occurred during July 2021.
CRUISING THROUGH POST-PRODUCTION
In the year since the production phase wrapped, EXILE has progressed through the stages of post-production—editing (Martina Reese/Diego Lopez), VFX (Ryan Owens), sound (Noisefloor Ltd.), color grading (Diego Lopez), musical score (Rhys Martin), and piano theme music (Kuang-Hao Huang, pianist/Tim Reisig, recording engineer).
WHAT'S NEXT?
Following its June 30, 2022 completion date, EXILE is poised to enter the international film festival circuit in search of a wider audience.
THE PRODUCTION TEAM
EXILE brings together a dynamic production team, including writer/director Martina Reese, producer Corey Gilbert, casting consultant Joette Waters, and director of photography Victor Tan. Martina Reese is a Chicago-based independent filmmaker who, since 2010, has been creating subtle, haunting, and provocative short films on tiny budgets. Festival awards include: Pity (Malta Film Festival 2019 Official Selection; German United Film Festival 2018 Semi-Finalist); Slow Me Down (French Independent Film Festival 2019 Official Selection); and The Librarians (Rome Film Awards 2019 Official Selection).
