Exeter Escape Rally 2026 – Driving for Children Who Need a Chance
In August 2026, I’ll be taking part in the Exeter Escape Rally – an incredible challenge that will see teams travel from Exeter to Northern Spain and back. There will be laughs, challenges, breakdowns, questionable decisions, and memories that will last a lifetime.
But for me, this is about far more than a road trip.
I’m taking part to raise money for children and families who are facing some of the toughest battles imaginable, because this cause is deeply personal to me and my family.
Why This Means So Much To Me
When I was just 17 months old, I was diagnosed with meningitis and septicaemia (blood poisoning). My family faced every parent’s worst nightmare. There was fear, uncertainty, and the very real possibility that I might not survive.
Thankfully, thanks to the incredible doctors, nurses, and NHS staff who cared for me, I was given the chance to grow up, build a life, become a father, and be the person I am today.
I owe my life to the care I received.
Years later, my family found ourselves facing another difficult journey when my son was born prematurely and spent almost a month in intensive care.
Watching your child fight through those early days is something no parent ever forgets. The worry, the sleepless nights, the waiting, and the uncertainty are overwhelming. But once again, we were surrounded by incredible NHS professionals who provided outstanding care, support, and reassurance every step of the way.
Thanks to them, my little boy is here today.
Sadly, not every family gets the ending they hope for.
My nephew, Kayden, fought an incredibly brave battle of his own. Despite his strength and determination, he sadly passed away after a long and difficult journey.
During the darkest days our family has ever experienced, the love, compassion, dignity, and support shown by the children’s hospice team meant more than words could ever describe. They cared not only for Kayden but for our entire family, helping us through unimaginable heartbreak with kindness and understanding.
Their support will never be forgotten.
Kayden’s memory will always live on in our hearts, and this fundraiser is one way of ensuring his legacy continues to help other children and families.
Where The Money Will Go
One of the questions people often ask is where their donations will be going.
The answer is simple: every penny raised will go towards supporting children’s charities that provide life-changing and life-saving care for children and families.
A significant portion of the funds raised will support The Grand Appeal, the dedicated charity for Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
The Grand Appeal helps provide:
• Life-saving medical equipment
• Specialist facilities for children
• Family accommodation and support services
• Medical research and innovation
• Resources that improve the lives of sick children and their families
The fundraiser will also support children’s hospice services and organisations that provide care, comfort, support, and dignity to children and families facing the most difficult circumstances imaginable.
These organisations help families when they need it most. They provide hope during the hardest times and support children through challenges no child should ever have to face.
This is my opportunity to give something back to the organisations that have touched my family’s life so profoundly.
Every Penny Goes To The Cause
It is incredibly important to me that people know exactly where their money is going.
The vehicle we are taking on this challenge has been funded entirely by ourselves – myself, Tyler, Tommy, and Callum.
We are personally covering the costs of the vehicle, fuel, accommodation, travel expenses, and everything else involved in completing the rally.
This is a completely non-profit challenge.
None of the money raised through this fundraiser will be used to pay for our trip.
Every donation made through this page will go directly towards supporting children’s charities and helping children and families who need it most.
Businesses & Sponsors – Get Involved
There will be multiple cars and teams taking part in the Exeter Escape Rally, creating a fantastic opportunity for businesses and organisations to get involved.
If you own a business and would like to support our journey, we’d love to hear from you.
Whether that’s through sponsorship, company stickers, branding, merchandise, services, or promotional materials, we would be proud to display your business on our rally vehicle and support your company throughout the event.
As a thank you, we’ll promote our sponsors through social media updates, fundraising posts, photos, videos, and rally content throughout the journey wherever possible.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support an amazing cause while helping raise awareness for your business.
Thank You
This rally is about much more than driving across Europe.
It’s about thanking the NHS staff who helped save my life when I was just 17 months old.
It’s about thanking the incredible teams who cared for my son during his time in intensive care.
It’s about honouring Kayden’s memory and recognising the amazing hospice staff who supported him and our family through the most difficult time of our lives.
Most importantly, it’s about helping other children and families receive the same care, compassion, support, and hope that meant so much to us.
If you can donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page could make all the difference.
Together, we can help give more children a fighting chance.
For Kayden.
For my son.
For every child who deserves hope.
Thank you for your support.
The challenge will take place leaving 27 August and returning back to the UK the 31st 2026
