Siloah House Renovation (Mark and Debbie Peters)

Donation protected
Upon entering, you immediately are met with the sounds of fellowship. Plates clapping together, laughter and conversation. The group dines together. They have to spread out into multiple rooms because the dining room isn’t large enough to hold everyone. Strangers are introducing themselves. Warm embraces are found in this place. Joy and peace fill the atmosphere.

After dinner, the group funnels into the living room. Everyone in one accord. They are drawn here for a reason. And while the food and fellowship are wonderful, that’s not why so many are drawn here. You will find wonderful men and women of God here. Experienced teachers who love the Father. You will also find the lost, tired and needy here. Because the Father loves to fellowship with all of them.

The love of the Father is poured out on everyone who enters here. It manifests through the encouragement and love from those who gather, one to another. Many unloved people have discovered the love of the Father by coming to gather here. If you receive nothing else here, you will receive love.

This is Mark and Debbie Peters. They are standing at the entrance of their home. Some time ago they named their home Siloah House. “Siloah” means sending. For many years Mark and Debbie have equipped young and old for the ministry. Teaching, nurturing and discipling all who come. Then, they send them out to love the world. Encouraging them to gather with their neighbors, friends and family in their own home. Encouraging multiplication rather than enlarging their own gathering. And while this is their hearts desire, they have done more than they intended to.

I have seen the unloved, leave their home knowing they are loved. I have seen the depressed leave uplifted. I have watched Mark and Debbie disciple young men and women in the truths of the gospel. Their love for others is intoxicating. They give, give, give and give some more. I have seen them forgive and encourage forgiveness for others. They are truly ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. Representing the kingdom day in and day out.

Mark and Debbie don’t just open their home for “meetings” and “gatherings”. They have an open door policy. The day of their son’s wedding, the placed a note on the door. It read, “come on in, we’ll be back”. Many come long distances and stay into the early hours of the morning. Too tired to drive home, they stay overnight. Fellowship begins again over breakfast.

Debbie has battled cancer for many years. She is a humble and graceful warrior. She does not complain. She moves about the home serving everyone. During chemotherapy, she and Mark minister to the doctors and nurses. Reminding them of the Father’s love for them and their need for Jesus. Mark often tells me what the Father’s words are for him and Debbie. The Father says, “Keep believing”.

I hope I have articulated the life of Mark and Debbie to you. I hope you are one who understands the need for people like this in the church today. They are a model of the love of Christ. This is my hope because they need our help.

The home they have opened every day, is in need of repair. Because of their contribution to the body of Christ, I am asking the body to contribute to them. I want you to see your financial contribution as a seed. I once heard someone say, “If you saw faith as a seed, you would plant it”. I am asking you to plant a seed into someone that is advancing the Kingdom of God. The amount of work needing done is extensive. It will require a substantial financial contribution to be done properly. With the help of friends, the renovation has already begun. However, because of the shortage of funds, progress has been slow.

The home is very old. It needs electrical upgrades, plumbing upgrades, structural changes, flooring, carpentry, painting and many other upgrades. The exterior is in need of repair as well. Gutters, soffits, painting, concrete and yard work need completed.

Please consider contributing to a family that has laid down their life for Christ and others. Your prayers are welcome too.

In Christ,
