Bring Dylan Home

Story

My husband Dylan has been in the ICU sedated on a ventilator since December 14th and there is no telling when he will be able to come home. Not being able to be by his side in the hospital because of COVID or even hear his voice has been the hardest thing. Being without him on Christmas and New Years is also very emotional especially since he doesn’t know how much time has passed. I am hoping he can be home by his 30th birthday at the end of January but that is a long shot.  It has been a very hard year for everyone and I appreciate everyone taking the time to just hear out what we are going through. I never thought I would be in need to make one of these accounts but here I am asking for help. I haven’t been able to work and I’m struggling to pay our bills alone, on top of how expensive his hospital bills will be. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated beyond imagine. Thank you. ***1/1/2020 Update, Dylan came off the ventilator on New Years Day! Such a great start to my New Year to hear that. He is still sedated but they are trying to lower it daily to wean him off slowly. He does have delirium and psychosis from the heavy sedation for over the past 3 weeks and will start physical therapy soon ***1/17/20 Update, Dylan was moved up to Floor Four the same day he came off the ventilator around 5:30 am. His delirium and psychosis is all gone! He did have a high fever at one point and a couple procedures done. The doctor let us know today that if he keeps on pushing through he can be released on Tuesday which is the day before his 30th birthday! Please keep praying for his recovery, it will be a long road after he is home as well. ***1/19/20 The doctor called in the morning to let me know he isn’t ready to come home quite yet. He has a lot of pain medications and benzodiazepines that he will need to wean off of before coming home. They are tapering them down starting today, so hopefully in a few days he can come home. I was still able to go to Kaiser and see him and watch how to clean his drains he will be going home with. After 38 days of not seeing him it was amazing to be reunited even only for a short time ***1/21/2020 The doctor called and said Dylan can come home today!! ***4/10/2021 The past few weeks Dylan has been feeling pretty weak, then the last few days feeling very weak, dizzy and more pain than usual. Last night he came down with a fever & I was told to bring him to ER. He has been admitted after doing a CT Scan and seeing that the abscess has grown so they need to monitor him & get him in with a surgeon today. They place another drain in his lower abdomen & he is expected to be monitored for the next few days. ***4/14/2021 Dylan has been released from the hospital with his third drain placement. The position of the new drain is pretty painful going through his abdomen. I’ll continue to monitor him at home unless he gets a fever.
