Charlotte's Fun Race

Hi, my name is Charlotte Holmes, my ski club and family are organising a Family Fun Race at Pendle Ski Club on Saturday 14th January 2023.

The reason behind this event is, "I have some exciting news to share soon about my skiing journey and we hope to raise some funds to support the forthcoming good news, unfortunately, I cannot share this news with you until January 12th"

I first experienced my love for the sport on my annual family ski holiday to Schladming when I was only 2 years old, I instantly fell in love with skiing. The experiences gained from these family holidays encouraged me to start attending lessons at Pendle Ski Club. I quickly progressed through the ski club development pathway and was invited to attend race squad training. From the age of 8, I have been competing for Pendle ski club and my two schools Blacko Primary and Park High School at various dry slope competitions throughout the UK. During this period, I have collected many British and English dry slope and indoor titles annually.

2015 saw me compete in my first ever alpine slalom snow race at the Letch, Scotland, where to my surprise I came first in my age category. This encouraged me to want further race experiences in the mountain environment.

In 2019 I joined Team Evolution Ski Racing academy based in Austria https://teamevolution.eu/ . My journey progressed further with them, representing the Great Britain Children's Alpine team at international ski competitions across Europe over 3 years.

Winter season 21/22, my first season skiing in adult-level skiing competitions. The season started well scoring below 80 FIS points in my first few races.

Unfortunately, I became injured in mid-January with a torn MCL in January meaning 8 weeks of no skiing. I worked so hard to get back to what I loved, and by the beginning of March, I started skiing again. I aimed to compete at The British Championships at Tignes France. My hard work paid off, watch the video link of my 1st Downhill race.

I missed skiing so much as I had filled all my time with skiing for the last 10 years. At The British Championships, I achieved more than I hoped for, securing the following titles:

I am part of the Great Britain FIS development squad, however, this does not mean I receive any help financially from the governing body to support my skiing development and pathway. My parents support my skiing (and my brother Rob) and I have a few kind sponsors who have supported me so far along the pathway.
