Excela Health Pandemic Response Fund

Donation protected

This story begins with Mark Nicholas, a happy, healthy, 62-year old, with no underlying health issues, who became one of the first COVID-19 patients in our community.

On March 16, Mark developed a slight cough.   We had heard of COVID-19, but it seemed to be happening far away--in China or Italy.  Soon life changed dramatically...within one week, Mark had pneumonia, and within one week after that, he was intubated and on a ventilator for the next 20 days.  It's a precarious road to recovery.  It has been a nightmare.

It's easy to feel helpless--but there is something we can all do to help the fight against it.  Aside from keeping safe and following guidelines from medical experts, we can all do our part to help those affected.

By donating to the "Excela Health Pandemic Response Fund", we can help provide much-needed support and aid to Westmoreland Hospital where Mark is currently staying.  The funds donated will help secure supplies such as masks, gloves, eye protection, respirators, cleaning supplies, and more.

Mark's story will continue as we choose to fight--to battle COVID-19 with the help of our family, friends, and community.  We have chosen a symbol, Semicolon Sol Invictus.  It represents the hope that the future is certain, even when difficult times arrive.

The team of physicians, nurses and support staff at Westmoreland Hospital have been absolutely wonderful to Mark and our family, and we want to extend our gratitude and thanks the only way we know how. We invite you to join us. Please consider making a donation. Together, we will get through this.
