My school is the only all-girl public school in DC. We serve grades prek3 through 8th grade. I am seeking support with our campaign to reduce chronic absenteeism and making a positive impact on our student’s education. Student attendance has a direct impact on academic achievement. The more a student is present for school the more exposure they have to the curriculum. Our attendance team is dedicated to improving student attendance. Our G.E.M.S. (Girls Exceling and Making Strides) campaign hosts monthly perfect attendance celebrations. These celebrations have become an exciting and consistent feature for our students. Each month we incentivize students with a unique event. This past year we were able to increase overall student attendance by 2.6% and decrease chronic absenteeism by 12%. Our team would like support with making these monthly celebrations an on-going and exciting part of our student’s school experience. All funds will go to incentives for students. Our team directly contributed funds from our own pockets. This year my hope is that friends and family will contribute support for our students so that we can continue to make a positive impact on our student’s education.
