In October 2016, Colin Guerrero's life changed with a medical diagnosis of juvenile polyposis. He was rushed to the ER with chronic anemia. If he had chosen to wait to be seen one more day, he wouldn't be here to tell you this story. His blood count was 2.7 when it should've been between 11 and 14. He received ten units of blood at the hospital to bring his blood count up to a normal level. From that point, several tests were taken and a cancerous mass was found in his colon. Emergency surgery was done in November to have the cancerous mass and the last 12 inches of his colon removed. At the same time, four cancerous lymph nodes were also found and removed. Currently, he is receiving bi-weekly chemotherapy treatments. For the rest his life he will require frequent testing to remove any newly devolved polyps because there is a 30-50% change that they will also become cancerous. In addition to his treatments, his children will require expensive genetic testing to rule out the possibility of having this genetic abnormality. In conjunction with raising funds for hospital bills, chemotherapy and future medically related expenses, Colin hopes to raise awareness to a genetic disease that normally doesn't affect a person at such a young age. Thanks for taking the time to read this and all prayers are accepted and appreciated. No matter how large or small the donation, every little bit will help make an important difference for this family as he is the sole financial provider for his wife and three children.
