Let's get EWS BACK to Midwest!

In March 2020 the EWS received the exciting news that we were invited to perform in Chicago at the 2020 Midwest Band & Orchestra Conference... and then the world was paused.

The past 18 months of the pandemic have had a significant impact on the state of the arts and our ability to make music. The EWS members mourned as we stayed home and were unable to rehearse and perform together and for our fantastic NJ audiences. While precautions are still in place (masks and bell covers, to name a few), we are thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Chicago in Dec. 2021 to celebrate the return of live music performance to our world and to represent the vibrant state of music from the state of NJ on a world stage. EWS remains the only adult group from NJ to be invited to perform at Midwest, and this performance at the 75th Midwest Conference will be the second time EWS has been invited!

Why we need your help:
This exciting performance is a fantastic learning and performing opportunity for our members, but comes at a high price. In addition to travel expenses, the budget includes the costs for music purchase and rental, fees for rehearsal space, soloists, programs, and more. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting this Midwest performance, as all of our members, board, and conductors volunteer their time and talents to EWS.  The EWS is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

What is Midwest?
The Midwest Clinic is the world’s largest conference for instrumental music educators, drawing attendees from all 50 states and 30 countries.  The EWS was selected through a rigorous audition process, and is the first adult band from NJ to be invited to perform.  Performing at Midwest is a lifelong goal for many EWS music educator members.  This opportunity will provide the EWS exposure to conductors and composers, as well as educational opportunities, which will continue to raise the quality of performances for our home audiences in future seasons.

What is the EWS?
The Eastern Wind Symphony is a professional caliber ensemble located the tri-state NY/NJ/PA area, and based out of Princeton, NJ.  The ensemble is dedicated to performing the very best wind and percussion literature.  EWS membership includes music educators and freelance musicians, as well as members manage who businesses, work in the sciences, and raise families. Whatever their vocation, all members of The Eastern Wind Symphony are accomplished and talented musicians who volunteer their time and enjoy performing the most highly regarded wind symphony repertoire in a high-caliber ensemble.  Their reward is musical enjoyment at its highest level: music for music’s sake!  Follow us on Facebook  and see our website  at www.easternwindsymphony.org for more information about the Eastern Wind Symphony.

We greatly appreciate any support our audience and followers can provide, as we work together to get EWS BACK to Midwest!
