On April 2nd, Kona started vomiting after breakfast. The vomiting continued throughout the day and all night. She became very lethargic and refused all food offered to her. We knew something was very wrong at that point, since Kona is known for never turning down food! Early the next morning we took her to the emergency vet where an ultrasound confirmed she had a complete blockage in her small intestine. She had no chance of surviving without immediate surgery.
Kona is part of our family, so the only option was to agree to the surgery. She spent 24 hours in the animal hospital where they removed the block, rehydrated her, and helped her start the long road to recovery. Luckily, the hospital discharged her early to allow her to be more comfortable at home, but the costs added up quickly.
We know Kona is loved by so many of our friends and family members, and we have always received such wonderful support from everyone towards her. It’s uncomfortable to ask for help, but here we are.
