(Tarzan) EWH Summer Institute Fundraising
Donation protected
Hey everybody! Thank you for checking out my support page! I have been given the opportunity this summer to work with Engineering World Health in one of the Uganda Summer Institutes. With the Summer Institute, I would work on donated medical devices in Ugandan hospitals, giving me the opportunity to further both my technical skills and work as a light for Jesus Christ in Uganda. My official support letter is attached below for more information and the full story. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me!
Blessing and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ and Hello,
I hope this letter finds you well and that God has blessed you these past days.
Since August of 2019, God has given me the privilege to study Theology and Biomedical Engineering at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. This has been a dream of mine since the age of ten when I felt God call me to this school for a college education. The past four years have had their share of victories and their share of defeats, but through it all God has remained faithful and has shown His hand, time and time again. From restoring friendships, to granting me the strength, to simply getting me to class, God has been at the forefront of my time at LeTourneau and has brought me into a deeper relationship with Him through it. As I have been here, I have had the privilege to meet many amazing professors and make life-long friends.
As my time at LeTourneau has been drawing to a close, I found myself worrying about what the future would hold. While following after God here, I have felt his call towards medicine, but also to make use of the skills I have gained studying biomedical engineering. I was worried because I felt that there would be no opportunities for me to pursue experience that catered towards both working in a medical setting and making use of my engineering degree. As I brought this to the Lord, He provided. I received an email from one of my professors about the Uganda Summer Institute with Engineering World Health (EWH). The details of this internship astounded me. I would be given the opportunity to work on donated medical devices in a hospital overseas! I had no choice but to cry out in praise to the Lord! He had provided an opportunity that was exactly what I had called out to Him for.
I applied as soon as my classes allowed me to and I was accepted to the program in mid-January. However, this opportunity did not come as easily as being accepted. To participate in the Institute, there is an $8500 tuition (cost breakdown below) that must be paid by April 1st. EWH has already provided me with $2000 of financial assistance and a very dear friend that I made while at LeTourneau has given me an additional $1000 towards the tuition. In addition to the tuition, I must also provide my own airfare (~$15-1600) to and from Uganda, as well as money for food and domestic travel while overseas. Due to this, I am trying to raise $7750 to cover the rest of the tuition, travel, and living expenses. I have looked into the Summer Institute, and I have prayed heavily about this decision, and I feel that this is the direction that God has called me for this summer.
The purpose of this letter is to get the word out to as many people as possible. I have seen God work through support raising for my parents and even for myself. I am not asking that you donate to help me this summer, but only that you pray about this opportunity. If God leads you to donate and help me raise support, then I thank you. If He does not, I praise that you went to Him and sought out His guidance. I trust that God will work amazing things this summer both in my life and in yours if we follow after Him and the work that He has laid before us. I ask that you keep me in your prayers and continue to follow after Him who has set us free.
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,
Evan ‘Tarzan’ Kowal
